Loving Our New City

Sorry for the post overload, sometimes I just get into the groove...
So we had a great past weekend and I was talking to my dad on the phone on Sunday and was talking it up.  We have "hot" sunny days that feel amazing because there's NO humidity so you can actually enjoy the sun without sweating buckets.  If you sit in the shade there's a cool breeze and could easily sit without feeling warm at all.  The river is loaded with activity pretty much all the time and is only 5 minutes from our house.  We have a mountain that is about a 10 minute drive that is about a 3 mile hike, perfect for watching sunsets.  And then after a hot ninety or so degree day it cools down at night to like 60 or 70 degrees, perfect for sleeping.  It's also super pretty, even though there's not many trees, there are beautiful skies and landscapes.

We live there! (where the teeny tiny arrow is)

One day I walked into our bedroom and found this.

Keepin up with the Joneses

So last weekend we went camping and when we got home I noticed that our new neighbors to our left had done the front of their house... "I want to do the front of our house!"  So this weekend we did.

So I forgot to take a before picture, so let me describe it to you. Ahem... we had two LARGE hostas plants.  Large. Then we had a few flowery/viney plants that Buckley wrapped his leash around and de-rooted.  Not the prettiest and not dog friendly.
Ex. of large hostas plants. It looked like this but had the light purple flowers coming from the middle of it.

After.  We're not finished.  We're going to grow grass in front of the stones and plant three bushes in the rock area.  End of story.  It will be (& already is) a lot prettier and more dog friendly and more maintenance free.  We're thinking Buckley likes to tromp around and I don't want to spend money to encourage his de-rooting and if we are to have a baby soon (no not pregnant) then I'm not going to want to spend time messing with a bunch of flowers and such.
It's not a huge space... So image two huge hostas plants in this little space.

If you look you can see three "holes" that's where the bushes will go... We're also a little short on rocks... Next month when our "home" funds come back in.

This is NOT the neighbor I was talking about.  This is our right side neighbors.  She is an older lady and this is her garden.  I never stood a chance with her...
Oh hello Mr. Dragonfly

Palouse Falls

This past weekend was the first weekend of Andy's freedom of no studying for boards.  We took hold of this opportunity to explore a bit.  We decided to go to Palouse Falls which is about an hour and a half northeast of where we live.  It was a beautiful day: clear skies with a few puffy clouds and hot!  You drive through a lot of long country roads with massive fields and hills surrounding you, so we rolled our windows down, turned up the music and drove admiring God's untouched (meaning hardly any man-made stuff, so unlike the mid-west) creation.  Buck too enjoyed the scenes (you can only guess what he loved seeing most: cows, in case you forgot).

So it's a really cool state park.  You can hike anywhere and um, yup there's a waterfall (Palouse Falls... water fall, get it?).  We didn't do any swimming, it takes a while to get to the water and we were un-prepared as to how hot it was and how much drinking water we were carrying.  So we hiked along the river for a bit and then walked around the canyon rim.  We then climbed up through a crevice that was pretty steep, you had to lift your self up a lot and it was wet and cold.  Buckley is one heck of a hiker, minus one spot where he was too short, he shot up that crevice and kept looking back at me and Andy like "hey you guys are slow... Come on!".  He also did really well without a leash.  At another point I decided to stay back while Andy and Buck continued down and Buckley's paws started hurting and he sat down (black rock on a hot day, no good for dog pads).  He was quite a bit away (I could see him though, no trees this part of WA) and I called for him and he hiked his way back up to me while Andy continued down further.

*I bet you're wondering if when we have kids if I'll stop giving you so much information on Buckley, probably not.  Then you'll just have to read about Buckley AND our kids.  Trust me, these posts will just keep increasing with time.*

This & Last

Last weekend Amy and Brandon came and visited us in the Tri-Cities... Since Andy and I have only been here a short time and most of Andy's time has been filled with studying we were unsure of really what to do... but boy did we ever figure out what to do... We went into Pasco and discovered a little bit of Mexico (seriously).  It is so much like stepping out of this country into another there.  We went to a farmer's market and got delicious cherries and then went to a flea market (all of us for the 1st time).  It was definitely interesting...  We also headed down to the river and saw a hydroplane! Apparently hydroplane races are super popular here so Andy and I are excited for the last weekend of July when the big races are here.  We also discovered the medieval festival was going on so we took a walk and saw some of that and just walked along the Columbia.  It was good to see them and we think it's going to be really nice living closer to them and Chris and Melissa.
Fam Pic! We're so cute!

Amy's preggers!
Before Amy and Brandon came Andy and I went to our first arena football game.  It was quite interesting and pretty fun.  During the song Cotton-Eye Joe ALL the men and boys in the stands had their shirts off and were waving them above their heads...  Yeah it was an interesting game alright.

Well just to let you all know Andy's big board exam is this Monday.  Please pray for him with nerves and anxiousness and just for the test that he can pass and just be done and over with it.  Thanks everyone!
