Knee Surg

Andy had surgery on his knee this past Monday. (Andy has dislocated his knee on multiple occasions so this was to tighten the whatever that keeps it in place also a scope was done to get out the bad stuff... I'm all hip on the med terms.) His surgery went very well. The surgeon showed me pictures of his knee before and after and it seemed he did a good job (I am very medical). Anyways he is in good spirits (keeps asking if we're going to go for a run... haha...) and is actually going back to class today. His knee is obviously painful and he is grateful for pain meds. I'll keep ya'll updated on his progress as the time comes.

Here and There

Well Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! How time flies!
For Christmas Andy and I went up to Schaumburg to celebrate the Lord's birth with my family. We went to church on Christmas Eve and then headed to my Aunt Cathy's for our traditional Christmas Eve celebration. It was great to see everyone and everyone was there minus Aunt Jana, Uncle Chuck, Amy, and Brandon. We took some time to do family photos... but I think too many people were taking photos as everyone is looking at different cameras in each picture. We did our traditional white elephant exchange, ate a ton of food and just hung out.
On Christmas day we opened presents, just the four of us (or 6 counting the pooches!). My dad and I went for a run because the weather was SO nice out. Then Aunt Lynn came down from Wisconsin and we opened MORE presents (we are so spoiled). Grandma, Aunt Didi and Phil joined us soon after. We played the Game of Things which was hilarious! We ate a DELICIOUS dinner with some of the best meat I have ever eaten (way to go Dad!). We ended the night with some coffee, the Game of Things, the Packers winning, peppermint pie, and Baileys. It was a wonderful Christmas.
Since Christmas...
Andy's parents came and visited on Tuesday... Andy left for Guatemala on Friday morning... Buck and I celebrated New Year's Eve with the movies Jane Eyre and Sarah's Key. We went to bed at 10.30 and woke up at midnight to the sound of a St. Louis new year's: 8 gun shots. =)
On Monday we headed up to visit Mom and Dad in Schaumburg (also an attempt to break up the long week without Andy). Amy and Brandon were also there. Buckley enjoyed his time with Skippy.
Which brings us to today. I'm working this week.. counting down until Andy gets home on Sunday. Monday Andy is having surgery on his knee. And that is here and there.

Get out of Work for a Few Hours

Caution: The story you are to read has graphic pictures and a lot of blood.

So at work yesterday I decided to close the teller drawer (the drawer tellers push in and out to get deposits from the drive thru) on my right pointer finger... .:sarcasm:. I've done it before and it really hurts, but I've never done it this bad or make it hurt this bad before. So I was helping a client I regularly help and I was pushing the drawer out to him which makes our side close, I flinched and the guy asked if I was okay I said yes... turned off the intercom ran to my station holding my finger (you know what you would do if your were to slam or hit your hand really hard). I then looked down and was like OH I'm bleeding. Feeling stupid I ran to the bathroom and locked myself in to clean up. Well I did the normal run it under water get a towel and hold it run under more water, apply pressure, etc. Well this thing was GUSHING blood... So I got out of the bathroom opened the breakroom door, saw Rachel (our personal banker) said "Rachel!" real loud and stared at her for a second with a face of terror and walked back to the bathroom. The minute she walked in I started bawling because I couldn't get the thing to stop bleeding. She looked at it and was like we're going to clean it up. So Rachel cleaned me up (could not get it to stop bleeding) but wrapped up my finger like none other.. There was blood all over I left a trail on the floor, etc. So anyway they wanted me to go somewhere (to make this story shorter.. went to Walgreens for their care centers this one didn't have one, by this time my manager and the vice president of the bank were back from lunch and showed up at Walgreens, I bawled asked to go back to the bank while we figured stuff out) Ended up going to an urgent care for workmans comp or what have you. Rachel (who I now owe a lot to) went with me. The doc looked at it told me not to slam my finger in drawers anymore put some glue on it gave me a tetnus (sp?) shot and we went back to work, just in time for Rachel and my 3 o'clock departure from the bank.

Side stories:
1. One of our new tellers came to Walgreens with me (they wouldn't let me drive) and he was like this is cool at least we don't have to work and I said "Well I do have nine other fingers." Haha.
2. Rachel sent them a picture from Urgent Care of my finger. Meanwhile Nick (another teller) got a paper cut... Sent Rachel the picture with the quote "The Horror". I will now be an area of joking around the bank.
